Three Hat Studio was founded in August 2026 as a solo creative outlet rooted in Tasmania — lutruwita, the island at the bottom of the world. What began as a Discord RPG experiment evolved into a broader vision: a non-profit studio making small games, publishing fiction, and broadcasting Tasmanian stories.

The Three Hats
Three Hat Interactive is the digital development arm, focused on creating small, fast, highly responsive digital experiences. The flagship is the Underpunks RPG — a Discord-based TTRPG with community funding via Patreon. All revenue goes directly to operational costs.
Three Hat Press handles publishing — Underpunks novellas, regional history magazines, and technical documentation — exclusively via print-on-demand. No inventory, no upfront risk. Just stories, printed when someone wants them.
Three Hat Media is the community-facing broadcasting arm producing non-commercial audio series, local history podcasts, video essays, and interactive heritage apps — all free for public access.
Why "Three Hat"?
The name comes from an old Tasmanian bush saying: "one hat's a lid, two hats is a statement, three hats is a studio." It's also a nod to the three creative disciplines we pursue — games, press, and media — each its own hat, each worn by the same sole creator.
Based in Tasmania (lutruwita / Van Diemen's Land), the studio is deeply connected to the island's wild landscapes, colonial history, and unique cultural identity. Everything we make carries that fingerprint.
